Petition to Expand Party Host's Musical Repertoire

PARTY HOST PETITION

I would like to petition to add additional tracks to the Party Host's nighttime musical repertoire. I think that adding more variety to the songs will significantly boost the fun and replayability of the game. This will also play to the party host's role which is the host a party, and what is a party without FIRE tracks? Am I right?

I will separate the suggestions into 4 categories:

IMPORTANT - The game is literally unplayable if this isn't added
Good - Good songs that are fun to listen to
Bad - Bad songs that are fun to listen to
Meme - Meme

I will also update the list as the community sees fit (and as the songs get added)

I've seen plenty of youtubers fly by by slightly pitching the songs some octaves higher, making it higher pitched but almost uncompromised

For what it's worth I know other arcade games have used Rick Astley in their games without any issues.

Also worth noting that it may fall under fair use provisions depending on the length.

The factors considered in fair use under federal law are:

• The purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
• The nature of the copyrighted work;
• The amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
• The effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.

The risk can likely be minimized by using smaller segments of the work (as well as using older works which are less likely to be hit by copyright). Not a copyright lawyer though.

Does Blizzard have any official position on fair use within the arcade? Someone could (anonymously) ask Blizzard's legal department about fair use in arcade maps and see if they get any responses.

Like we already use Ace Attorney and Godfather stuff. It's not out of the question, and its a lot easier now that the arcade is free/we're a non profit. We do normally only take small stings rather than full tracks to save space and most events are <1 min anyway (especially nights)

Blizzard mostly will only act if they receive a complaint, they're very reactionary but we're still going to try and be respectful where we can.

Keep suggesting. We're likely to add more over the course of the test (we dont want to balloon the map size too much)

I want the songs below just for troll aspect. Even though I'm a shit-tier troll and would find it hilarious to listen to these songs, I'd get annoyed if they were played too much. A lot of work was put into this version, and I think playing a meme song in every party MIGHT discredit that. But hell, this is Mafia. Who knows what the developers want? They tend to tolerate my trolling, so they probably won't mind adding some troll songs to the mix. I'll respect them more if they do anyways ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. It'll show they're not taking this TOO serious and that they recognize sometimes us trolls want to play a good game that's also filthy >:-D.

Also what beat did you sample, I know I heard that before.

The main drum loop is from a Hed Kandi sample pack (which I own). There are probably a ton of tracks that use it, specifically those on the Hed Kandi compilations UwU

EDIT: On Tuesday at 10:50PM I uploaded an updated version with the main drums re-done from scratch. They're no longer from a Hed Kandi compilation and sound less 70s and more Narcotic Thrust circa 2004.

@Frinckles I think we can make this happen.
All music we use is credited in the help menu. So if it gets used you’ll be in there, and will get a slightly shiny name on the forum for being a contributor. (Can’t remember if we announced that we’re hoping to give the best submitters over the course of the beta those names too but hey keep up the bug reports all

edit: now I think about it we can probably also enabled animated avatars for that subgroup too. Extra bonus :>)
