Role Name: Chairman

Alignment: Evil Neutral

Win Condition: The majority of living players are in the Secret Club.

Game Size(s): M-FM / FM

Abilities: Each night he can invite someone to join the Secret Club. He can also choose to put a fake participant into the Secret Club instead. The Chairman is invulnerable at night and appears as a citizen to investigators. The chairman moves to invite a target. He doesn't move when he is adding a fake name.

Additional Info: Each night he will choose to put someone into his night chat. The people he puts into his night chat will not change alignment, they will just have a (in some cases additional) night chat to talk in. Any role can join the Secret Club so scum will have to continue their lies into the night. Having a night chat gives town a chance to work together if they trust their fellow club members while also trying to figure out the identity of the Chairman who they must kill before the majority of people are put into the Secret Club.

The mafia will want to kill members of the Secret Club so that its members do not become the majority but in doing so it shows that they probably have access to the club and know its members. All the players in the club need to work together to find the identity of the Chairman and to get him lynched during the day. However the Chairman can forego inviting a real person to a put false participant into the Secret Club, who he can speak as. He could choose to put a trusted town member in so that he can manipulate the other members, he could make someone look like scum so that they are lynched instead of him or he could put his own name in so that people believe he is another member of the club and not the Chairman himself.

The Chairman should make night more fun by keeping the discussion going into the night. The Secret Club is a bit like a cult where everyone is still distrustful of each other.

One Sentence Summary: The cult leader that no one likes!

A lot of credit goes to Mopin for the idea.

Weird, but amazing. A well thought out role, with some very strange implications. It almost feels underpowered though... But I dunno.

I wouldn't say he's underpowered as he can only die from being lynched. But unlike the other neutrals the chairman has many ways to misdirect the town due to being able to put fake names in the night chat.

It makes so much sense... Even the pros and cons of choosing to recruit a fake player instead of a real one make so much sense.

I think its a lot easier for him to win than an sk or arsonist who have almost no chance of winning unless everyone completely ignores them. He only needs to invite the majority of living players instead of having to kill everyone. I expect him to pretend to be someone else when he's talking to people in the Secret Club and he has the fake accounts at his disposal although this will make it take longer to invite the majority and they probably won't be that hard to discover. If a fake account is discovered then the players will have to think whether that was the chairman putting himself in the chat or whether he put someone else in for another reason.

Can club members win with the chairman?

The chairman wins alone, otherwise he'll be too overpowered like cult :)

In RP he would win by enveloping everyone in his network of deceit and mistrust, which he rules from behind the scenes, using his pawns to achieve his goals, replacing trusted members of society with his smurfs and playing his enemies against each other.

The strange thing about this role is that he also, at the same time, provides a kind of service to everyone, in the form of an extensive night chat. The people he recruits would also get a slight idea as to how close the chairman is to winning.

I think that this role would almost have to be play tested to get a true insight as to its implications in the metagame.

The fake members can easily be found, if all the club members choose to confirm themselves in day chat. On the other hand, they don't really want to do this, as they make themselves a perfectly fine target for the mafia club member.
I think there will be very few cases, where the Chairman prefers to put a fake name onto his list.

Thanks for bumping this awesome role - nearly forgot about it. When are you going to use this, Kromos?

It's the main part of the new M-FM he's making. Though it'll probably be quite a while until it gets hosted.
