Game will start on Night 0 to allow the mafia to allocate their roles to each member.
Day will be 48 hours long.
Night will be 24 hours long.

Last wills are now a big part of the gameplay and can be used to lie, wifom or communicate with a sleuth.

Theme:

Set in the year 2682, the world has regressed in the wake of countless natural disasters and wars. The Gulf Stream has shut down, plunging Northern Europe into a new Ice Age. A small nomadic tribe has settled down by a river in what used to be Norway. For the first time in years they have found a safe haven in which to raise their children. There is plenty of fish to catch and elk to skin for their warm fur.

The king of a neighbouring tribe was jealous of the life they lived. He told the war chief of his tribe to bring two of his finest warriors to kill everyone in the tribe and to take their food and fur. He couldn't spare anyone else however as he was worried about the rumours of a group of strange men from the East.

These strange men called themselves The Preservers. They wanted a resurgence of the old ways of technology and industry and were prepared to do anything to get their way. The king had heard word that they were taking slaves from villages and killing all those that resisted with a strange device that could fire projectiles faster than the eye could see.

Role Cards:

Armoursmith
Can give out one piece of armour at night. The target will be informed that they have received armour the following day. Armour protects the user from one attack upon use, but does not expire until used. Armoursmiths cannot target themselves.

Bodyguard
Every night, you can protect a player with your life. If they are attacked, you will take the hit, taking the attacker down with you. Your attack does not pierce immunity.

Citizen
You have the power of the vote and your voice.

Cop / Insane Cop
Can investigate a player during the night, and will be informed if their target is Suspicious (Mafia) or Unsuspicious (Town or Neutral).

An insane cop will be told they are a regular cop. The Insane Cop will see the Mafia as Unsuspicious, while Town and the Neutral will appear to be Suspicious.

Coroner
Can investigate a dead body at night. You will be able to recover your target's last will, role, and who they targeted each night.

Detective
Every night, you can follow a player and discover who he visited that night.

Doctor
You may heal a target at night, protecting them from one attack. Your target will not be informed they have been healed, unless they are attacked.

Escort
Can choose to block a target a night. Target may not take any night actions. Target will receive the same message as if he was blocked by a Consort or a Medical Student.

Gunsmith
Every night, you can give any player a gun. They will then be allowed to shoot another player or themselves once on any night.

Journalist
May choose to interview one target per night. The interview will be published anonymously the next day to the whole town. The journalist may add his own article alongside the interview.

Investigator
Every night, you can target a player and find out a list of possible roles that they can be.

Lookout
Every night, you can target a player and get a list of all players that visited them that night.

Mason
Can attempt to recruit someone each night. If your target is a citizen or the journalist he will be recruited. If your target is mafia he will be informed of your identity.

Medical Student
Player will be told they are a regular Doctor. Has the ability to heal players. Also has the ability to roleblock players. The first night action will be randomised, and then it alternates between the heal and the block.

Sleuth
Can read the current last will of a living player at night. If he tries to read the last will of a sleuth or dirty sleuth, he will be informed that his target's last will cannot be deciphered.

Veteran
Can go on alert twice. His attacks do NOT ignore immunities and healing, but when on alert he is immune to all attacks and manipulation.

Vigilante
Can shoot a player at night only. Has 2 bullets.

Corrupt Journalist
May choose to interview one target per night. The interview will be published anonymously the next day to the whole town. The journalist may add his own article alongside the interview and may edit his target's interview.

Executioner
Target will always be Town.

Jester
May visit another player at night, but that target will not be notified.

Witch
At night can force one player to target another player. Can make her target visit himself, and can make her target visit the Witch. If her target is a role with no night action or has spent their limited charges on their action, he will still visit whoever the Witch told him to. The manipulated target will be told they have been controlled.

Actress
At night may target a player. The targets role is not revealed, but if the Actress dies she will appear to be that role in the graveyard. The Actress will disguise herself as the last target she visited - she does not need to pick a target every night.

Blackmailer
May target a player at night - that player may not talk during the next day chat, except a single post which may read "I have been blackmailed.". The blackmailed player may only vote a maximum of two times.

Consigliere
Every night, you can target a player and find out a list of possible roles that they can be.

Consort
Can choose to block a target at night. Target may not take any night actions. Target will receive the same message as if he was blocked by an Escort or a Medical Student.

Dirty Sleuth
Can read the current last will of a living player at night. If he tries to read the last will of a sleuth or dirty sleuth, he will be informed that his target's last will cannot be deciphered.

Drug Dealer
May drug a player at night. The player will be informed that they have been blocked, witched, given a gun, given armour or attacked+healed, chosen by the drug dealer.

Fabricator
If sent to kill for the Mafia, may make the killing appear to come from another source. Can fabricate a kill to make it look like it came from a vigilante, the other mafia team, a veteran, a jester suicide, or a gunsmith gun.

Framer
May frame a target at night. A cop (of any kind), an investigator, a consigliere, a lookout and a detective will all receive false information from your target. If a sleuth tries to read the last will of your target he will receive your last will instead. The framer may choose the information he gives to each role.

Godfather
Can send a member of the mafia or himself to kill someone. He cannot be tracked and appears to be a citizen to investigative roles.

Janitor
Limited to two cleans. May clean someone at night; if the player is killed during the night, their role won't be revealed in the graveyard and the Janitor gains exclusive access to their last will. Unsuccessful cleaning attempts will not use up the charge.

Forger
May change his target's last will to anything he wants. Does not see his target's last will. The effect only works for the night it is used.

Mafioso
Can participate in the mafia's kill vote.

What do people think of this?

It's meant to be a standard game without any crazy win conditions, unbalanceable cult or game breaking mechanics so hopefully it will make for a fun, reasonably balanced game. It will introduce a new role, the sleuth / dirty sleuth, which should make last wills important and will be another way for players to lie and wifom about their role as well as creating a lot of new gameplay possibilities. The game will also include a lot of the cool roles from previous FMs that haven't made an appearance in M-FMs yet. I'm a big fan of 2 mafia teams so they take the place of a neutral killer.

I've removed the elect architect game mechanic to reduce complexity and for balance but I still think it's a good idea for future FMs.

I've already decided the hidden roles and I think it's pretty balanced. Mafia will be able to choose one role from each category and who gets that role.

Example:

Consigliere / Mafioso
Consort / Framer
Janitor / Blackmailer

The selection of roles I give to each team should be reasonably balanced regardless of what they pick.

Certain roles are worth more than the others. Points system might work better?

Selection choices will be more greatly affected by role ability rather than investigative pairings.

Any plans on having GF-like mafia/mafioso? Immunity to investigation or watching/tracking.

I'm going to change the selection to just the players picking which role they are from 3 I give them like it was in FM 8. I'm considering adding a godfather to one of the teams.

As I've hosted a S-FM I'll put this up for approval soon although it will be a while before I host it.

I'm going to add my Sex Toy Manufacturer role to the hidden roles list as well.

I like the setup and it would be really nice to bring two mafia teams back. That being said the one thing I hate about this setup is THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY HIDDEN ROLE POSSIBILITIES! Makes things flat out confusing, especially when most of these roles haven't been tested in a forum mafia.

What do you think of my setup?

I like the setup and it would be really nice to bring two mafia teams back. That being said the one thing I hate about this setup is THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY HIDDEN ROLE POSSIBILITIES! Makes things flat out confusing, especially when most of these roles haven't been tested in a forum mafia.


I thought that might be a problem but atm I like that there are so much possibilities. It should allow the scum to lie in lots of interesting ways as there are so many roles to claim. The investigation pairings look a bit too confusing as well but atm I like that the possibilities of these roles are there. Most of these roles won't make into the actual game as there is only 5 hidden mafia and 5 hidden town slots. If a lot of people say that it's too complex I might remove a few roles though.

I'll read your setup in a bit.

I've removed a load of roles to make things simpler and have added the theme of the M-FM.

Win Conditions

Town: See the Gerudo Corporation, the Ravager, the Chairman and any evil neutrals dead.
Gerudo Corp.: See the town, the Ravager and the Chairman dead.
Jester: Get lynched.
Executioner: Live to see your target lynched. You must survive until the end of the game.
Witch: See the Hedmark dead.

Coroner
Can investigate a dead body at night. You will find out your target's real last will, role, how they really died, and who they targeted each night.

Detective
