Surprise Testing 12/15

-Thanks Crypt

So these are a list of the bugs we've found.
-Pinging someone that doesn't exist doesn't give you an error message
-You continually get notified about events that happen in games you have left.
-Trying to join a game where the host has left or the lobby is empty puts you into an empty lobby. It shouldn't let you in.
-Repicking as host didn't seem to work.
-Players in Lobby didn't have enough screen space

Improvements
-Amnesiac should have options that disallow it from taking killing roles, and taking dead enemy roles.
--What about a mafia bus driver? Cryptonic. Your team didn't have bus driver, but the mafia bus driver got lynched. Can a 'town amnesiac' take it?
-Kick privileges
-Locked/Unlocked Roles List, making your game active or not.

If there's anything else I've forgotten, please post!

Also, the game is kind of broken for the next week, while my front end person finishes making the changes. However, it IS playable. Refresh often, but feel free to skype me/post about anything new you find.

All bugs have been fixed. I'm not sure about bug #2 though. Kind of hard to test by myself.

I'm also loving this snow. It's like its snowing in California. ;(

I think the majority of the imbalance comes from a Town-sided Amnesiac taking Neutral roles. I don't think it would have a negative effect to be able to take Mafia roles. (Non-killing role option helps with balance in this case, as well)

I -prefer amnes often and tend to side with scum as neutral unless it is absolutely disadvantageous due to an early rout of the mafia. In my unscientific observations scum tends to win most games I get amnesiac. But the amnesiac advantage is entirely dependent on the player who gets the role, and as Crypt says could just as easily be a lesser though significant boon to the town. Either amnes is an unhealthy role altogether or a just a marginal boost to either side, but forcing amnes to act pro town would introduce a whole new imbalance.

Well to expand on the scenario where this was brought up, it was discussing a Custom Faction to give some Neutral roles to a "Town" faction (one that essentially replaces the Town). So the Amnesiac's win condition would be to win with the "Town", regardless of what role he takes. The problem with something like this is if a Town-aligned Amnesiac takes a role like Serial Killer, and then Town had an OP role like that which negatively affects the balance.

For the lobby thing, the problem was that, if the lobby 'was full,' trying to join someone's game is not allowed. I thought about adding a 'checkmark' to the setup page indicating that your setup was complete. While it's not checked, people could join your lobby. If it is checked, and your lobby was full, no one could join.

I think a better solution is to keep it as is, and just relax the condition for joining the game. If the game has 0 roles in it, any number of players could join. In addition, if someone tries to join a full game, the host will be notified that someone tried to join their game, and the joiner will know that the host knows.
