View Full Version : Gameplay History?

After the game is done, it might be fun to show what happened round by round.

It might help new players understand the game better, and when the game is over, it's fun to see who murdered you, saved you, etc...

I know some people may not like the idea if they believe their gameplay shouldn't be revealed, but it wouldn't be devastating if we used the mafia names instead of the Battle.net names.

I could support this. Although some people play their roles a certain way, like always shooting as vigi on day 2. But hey, as long as it was just the mafia names, I don't think it'd matter too much.

Or don't use names, just say
"mafia attacked <name>"
"Serial Killer attacked<name>"
"doctor saved <name>"
"consort blocked<name>

so that way no names are used in the history. it would still help new players understand the roles better.

Each interface object is difficult to make, especially large, scrollable logs like that. This is a feature that I'll save for when I have less on my plate.

Well you can always watch the replay, which is really cool actually. You get to see what the mafia was saying to each other the whole time, who was doing what to who, etc..

I'm honestly amazed that the replay functionality works, especially considering that the host selection depends on banks.

Props to Blizzard, which is rare in the custom games section of bnet.

Also, I'd rather have you put in scrolling in the default chat log instead of something like this :)

There is no way to make a decent scrollbar. Unless you want to scroll up ten thousand times to find a long lost piece of chat, it's not happening.

Maybe some kind of arrow that will scroll the chat up an entire page? And save about 5 pages?

I just use a pen and paper when I'm going super srs mode in Mafia.

Tell me if I'm talking about of my ass, but can you create your own button for message log, as did help? Then, you'd have a trigger make people with the correct names repeat the lines, etc. Vote logs could be placed in between lines of text.

That's the same thing as saying:

"Hey, making a space ship is easy! Just attach a cockpit to some rockets and you're good to go."

You said you had a problem with scrollbars, and this way it comes with scrollbars.

Or you can say no.

The Help menu is not going to be changed. First of all, it would be extremely massive, and second I would have to destroy and remake the help item every single time someone makes a chat message.

I'm implementing the event log in the next update, but it won't have a chat log. It'll show votes, days, deaths, etc. but no chat.

Pretty much I'm wondering if you could have the default chat log, except instead of recording lines, you have a 3rd party spit out name and message. This would be by an icon next to help, not appended to it. Or can you not mod the existing message log like that?

What you ask is impossible.

OK.
