Are banks going to be encrypted now? Why would points/stats reset?

I've already considered a discussion to adjust the required points, or possibly adjust what things require points at all. No confirmation on any change yet, but I've been considering for some time already. Also, luckily getting role wins again will increase the rate of point gain regardless of what we do, so that will bring some early powers quicker than you're used to at this point.

They always have been, that's why it's called bank hacking and not bank editing :P

It would be possible if this happens but it is not possible to encrypt things as they are now. I can go into why but that's pretty boring. If dustin chooses to implement it that's his call. You could always ask him if that's something you want to do

Good news. No issue with banks as the developers have worked out an arrangement. I did say try not to panic.

Its impossible to set up an encryption and maintain everyone's bank without converting old banks to the encrypted format. This means anyone can just hack the old bank format and play a game. The map will convert the bank to the encrypted format.

Also banks can only be so big. I could be wrong but I believe the mafia bank is close to that limit and if encrypted it would grow larger.
