HEY EVERYPONY!!! It's time for another PARTY PUZZLE! :D

RULES:

Okay, so these things are little riddles called "lateral thinking puzzles"!! They suggest situations that sound really weird, but make so much more sense once you explain them. Yes, YOU!!!! Your job in this fun little thread is to solve the riddle... and you have as many guesses as you like!!!

If you were just guessing, though, we'd probably be here all day. So, you can also ask an unlimited number of yes or no questions! I will answer everypony's questions with "yes", "no", or "irrelevant", irrelevant as in you're asking something that just has nothing to do with the answer, silly!

If nopony gets the answer for a while, I'll give you all a hint! I usually have at least a couple of juicy hints for every riddle, so feel free to ask for one if you're collectively stumped! :D

Be careful, though! These questions can be really tricky, and you often have to take a step to the side in your assumptions to set your hooves back on the right path. You gotta think laterally!

This one is a bit harder (and the tiniest bit sad), but it's a good puzzle! It actually happened to Twilight!

PUZZLE TWO:

Twilight Sparkle stumbled across some money... and then started crying!

Why?

It was from Nazi Germany.

They were regular ol' Equestrian bits! Those'd be the little gold coins we use for small currency.

Because Twilight Sparkle thought it was a one million dollar bill but it was just.. HER IMAGINATION.

Bits aren't exactly easily mistaken for large bills!

Twilight was a communist.

Questions:
1) Is this money from the U.S.?
2) Is this money worth anything?
3) Is the fall the reason she cried?
4) Is this money in the form of paper?
5) Is this money in the form of coins?
6) Is this specific to only Twilight Sparkle? (If so, I'm screwed for this question)
7) Is this money current? (As in, do people use it in the world right now)

Jack, stealing is a crime, you know. Tsk tsk.

Well I guess if that is the correct answer perhaps you should have posed it as an answer instead of a question, eh?

Twilight was a communist.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4559980/reaction/pinkieworriedunsure.png

Irrelevant, but actually, I'm not sure if she's a communist!! Maybe I should ask her?

Questions:
1) Is this money from the U.S.?
2) Is this money worth anything?
...
4) Is this money in the form of paper?
5) Is this money in the form of coins?
...
7) Is this money current? (As in, do people use it in the world right now)
I just said they were coins, Equestrian bits! Four bits would get you a bushel of apples, for reference. These were genuine, and she is currently in Equestria where she could spend them if she wanted to!!

3) Is the fall the reason she cried?
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4559980/reaction/pinkielaughinghiccup.gif

OH MY GOD I'M DYING!!!! That was hilarious! It would have been a fantastic puzzle, too... but unfortunately, this puzzle is more complicated than that! ("Stumbled across" wasn't literal!)

6) Is this specific to only Twilight Sparkle? (If so, I'm screwed for this question)
Not at all! In fact, to make things easier on the rest of you, pretty much any question I ask doesn't have to be pony-specific unless I indicate otherwise up front!!! :D

1) Did the money have anything specifically tied to it that would have made Twilight cry? Would she have cried if she had found any kind of money?
2) Did Twilight cry due to emotions?
3) Did Twilight cry out of sadness or happiness?
4) Was money tied to any previous experience that Twilight had? Any memories?
5) Did the sight of money mean that Twilight was in danger?
6) Was Twilight specifically trying to avoid money?

Spy
October 21st, 2011, 04:03 PM
Well it's obviously because Twilight knows that money could pay for her education, but since she is a pony that has morals, and believes that the money doesn't belong to her, and she didn't really deserve it, she returned it to Plato.

Ash

Twilight wanted to grab the money but since she has hooves and not hands, she couldn't get a good grip of the money and then a human came and put it in their pockets,

I was typing before you posted about the coins. My mistake.

Other questions:
1) Has she been anywhere before she comes across the money?
2) Is this reminding her of something?
3) Is the money connected to anything?
4) Was the money at any point in time, Twilight's?
5) Did Twilight expect more money to be there?

1) Did the money have anything specifically tied to it that would have made Twilight cry? Would she have cried if she had found any kind of money?
Oh, this was a bit of specific change, alright! She didn't just find any money, nor in just any place!

2) Did Twilight cry due to emotions?
[color=pink][b]Yep! :(

3) Did Twilight cry out of sadness or happiness?
Sadness! :(

4) Was money tied to any previous experience that Twilight had? Any memories?
Not really, but she had seen the money before!

5) Did the sight of money mean that Twilight was in danger?
Nope!

6) Was Twilight specifically trying to avoid money?

Not at all! She's not short for change, from what I've seen, but it's not like she wouldn't take it where she can get it!!!

Well it's obviously because Twilight knows that money could pay for her education, but since she is a pony that has morals, and believes that the money doesn't belong to her, and she didn't really deserve it, she returned it to Plato.

Who says the money doesn't belong to her? You never asked!!

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4559980/reaction/pinkiebalancelarge.gif

Ponies can hold things just fine, especially with their mouths! And Twilight has magic on top of that, so she could easily levitate it unless it's really far away! (Which it's not!!!)

1) Has she been anywhere before she comes across the money?
Lots and lots of places!! I mean, she's had her whole life before coming across that money!! But you'll have to rephrase that if you want to figure out anything relevant to the puzzle, it's just too general. :)

2) Is this reminding her of something?
Nothing she didn't already have in the front of her mind before she found the money!

3) Is the money connected to anything?
Um, what do you mean?? If you mean like, physically, then no!

4) Was the money at any point in time, Twilight's?
Yes! :D

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4559980/reaction/pinkiesongwhisper.gif

You're getting warmer!!!

5) Did Twilight expect more money to be there?

Nope!

Also, did her crying serve any purpose?

Nah, she was just sad! :(

1) Was Twilight's reason for crying directly related to seeing the money?
Yeah, it was pretty direct!! She wouldn't have cried unless she saw it!

2) Would Twilight be the only Pony who would cry from seeing the money?
Yep!

3) What condition was the money in that Twilight found?

It was normal!

1) Had she JUST gone somewhere unusual before finding the money?
2) Had she given this money to someone beforehand?

5) Has someone done anything to the money?

It was in Twilight's home, which for the most part is a public building!!! She lives in the library, and has some private rooms in it! However, the money was in the public section!!

1) Was Twilight crying because the money was not in possession of a friend or an enemy?

So to sum up what we know so far:

Our pony saw her money in her house and that made her very sad and she started crying.
The money was supposed to be in possession of another pony at the time she found it.

More questions:
Is the other pony's identity relevant?
Has the money been given personally or sent to the other pony by twilight?
Was the money returned by the second pony?
Was the money ever meant to be exchanged for something?

Was the money stolen, damage, or has been tampered with?
Not at all!

narrowing down the place first:

Was it twilight's home?
Was it a public building?
Was it someone's home?
Was it a specific room within a building?
It was in Twilight's home, which for the most part is a public building!!! She lives in the library, and has some private rooms in it! However, the money was in the public section!!

1) Was Twilight crying because the money was not in possession of a friend or an enemy?
Either!

2) If Twilight had not seen the money, would it have affected her in any other way?
Yes!!! She would have become pretty happy and satisfied, if she hadn't seen the money!

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4559980/reaction/twilightsparkleclapping.gif

3) Was this other pony present when Twilight saw the money?
Nopony else was present!

Was the money counterfeit?

Only two questions required at this point are:
Was the money ever in possession of the pony it was supposed to be in possession of?
Was the money discarded by the second pony?

Has the money been given personally or sent to the other pony by twilight?
Nope!

Was the money returned by the second pony?
Irrelevant!

Was the money ever meant to be exchanged for something?
No, not really! Well, not in any traditional sense!!!

Is the money hers?
YES, it is!

Was she giving it or supposed to give it to someone?
Kiiiiiiinda, but not really!

Did someone give it to her (as payment for example)?
It'd have been long enough ago to be irrelevant!

Also, does the word "stumble" (in the original riddle) suggest she wasn't expecting to see the money there? "Not expecting" as in would never have guessed to see the money there. Or was is more of a "Let's see if the money is there... OH NOES!!! IT IS!!! *CRY*"

Oh, you're missing a couple very, very important things!!!

I'll give you a hint! The BARE minimum you've left to find to figure this out is:

- A subtle distinction about who the money was meant for, and...

- Where the money was!!!

You might be able to add everything up after that... Or you might not!!! We'll just have to SEE!! :D

YES!!! YOU DID IT!!!!! Or got close enough, at least!

Alright, here's the whole story. Twilight actually WROTE that book herself! I know, amazing, right?? And then she told everypony about the book and put in the shelf for checkout - or ponies to just sit in the library and read it - and went out of town for a while! But before she left, she wanted to make extra extra sure that she'd know if someone read what she'd written, even if they didn't check it out! So she left a couple bits between the pages, thinking that anypony who read it would have the bits fall out and take them for themselves!!!

When she came back, she saw that the bits were still there, meaning NOPONY had read her book, so she cried! :( But in reality, of course, Applejack and Fluttershy had both taken turns reading it in the library, and were too concerned that Twilight must have lost the bits or left them as a bookmark to keep them out of place! So she cheered up in the end and everything worked out GREAT!!!! :D

Congratulations on your hard work, everypony! I'll have a fresh question up soon!!
