It is often considered a cute 口癖(addictive speaking habit?) in anime, especially because Japanese has a lot of non-sense adding at the end/beginning of their sentence, often used to indicate attitude or gender. In anime, it indicates Character.

To english speaker, it might be annoying.

There can be a few reasons why he reflects himself in a third person view or even a second/third person altogether. Apo won't get into specifics, but he may be referring to a separate existence of Apo at the time.

Overall, Apo refers to Apo as an object of 'control' rather than 'being'; which seems to make much more sense, but not sure if others agree.

Edit: And it might scare you that I often refer to myself as Apo(third person) irl at times as well.
