Adventure Quest:
The Quest Adventure Continues



During the Saga Era, a group of adventurer's had their own story.
Some were to be a hero, some were to be evil itself.

As the story came to a start, everyone obtained mysterious artifacts along the way.
The artifacts werren't really artifacts, but devices!

When all the "artifacts" were gathered, they flash strongly and the adventurer's were gone.
50 years later...

The modern times are now.

Waking up in a basement, you can tell it's a wooden building.
... All alone.

The wall has a picture of an island map.
By looking at the map, you can deduce it's the same world but in another time?



Welcome to Adventure Quest, "Take 2".
This one is more balanced for players and host play, so that it can go more smoothly and things should actually have impact.

Mechanics to take note of :

You start with 1 Tile Movement. That means moving to any direction of the World Map.
You start with 2 Actions. That means you can do two actions during the same area.
You can only act in the area you are currently in.
You can move to another Tile after you've done an action.
Larger tiles have merged tiles and count as 1.
Buildings and Dungeons count as an Instance.
Players get a fixed Level Bonus as rounds progress.
Players that do more things, will be rewarded with additional levels.






Character Creation :

Primary Stat Explanation :

All Primary Stats are default by 2.
You get 10 Primary Points to be spend across all Primarty Stats.
Maximum stat per stat is 20. Only 1 may become 30.


Secondary Stat Explanation :

All Secondary Stats are default by 0.
You get 50 Secondary Points to be spend across all Secondary Stats.
Can only spend a maximum of 15 points per stat at a time.
Stats that are less than 5 points may not be used.
Maximum per stat is 100.
Effectivity levels : 5-10-25-50-75-100




Primary Stats :

Strength :

Increases physical strength.
Increases melee power.
Every point increases Inventory Capacity by +12.


Endurance :

Every 2 point increases Max Health by +1.
Decreases damage taken.
More resistance to Bad Effects.


Agility :

Increases overall speed.
Sharpens reflexes and evasion.
Every 10 points increases Tile Movement by +1.


Intelligence :

Increases overall intelligence.
Every point adds +1 skill point to be used per level.
Every 10 points increase Actions by +1.


Luck :

Increases overall luck.
Every point add a higher chance to avoid a Bad Event.
Every 10 points improves items that are being looted.





Secondary Stats :

Combat :

Ranged Weapons (All ranged weapons)
Melee Weapons (All melee weapons)
Explosives (All explosives)


Supportive :

Medicine (Ability to heal)
Repair (Ability to repair)
Engineering (Ability to use and build electronics)


Passive :

Trading (Increases trading, sell more and buy for less)
Influence (Increases your diplomatic influence with NPC's)
Driving (Allows the use of vehicles, and be a more skilled driver)


Deception :

Lockpicking (Allows you to pick open locks)
Stealth (Allows you to sneak more easily and to detect sneaking)
Traps (Allows you to build traps and avoid traps)





Questionaire :

1. Are you a Male or Female?

Male : Decrease damage taken by males and allows unique dialoges with females.
Female : Decrease damage taken by females and allows unique dialoges with males.


2. Are you a Night or Day person?

Night : Increases effectivity during night, decreases effectivity during day.
Passive : Nothing happens.
Day : Increases effectivity during day, decreases effectivity during night.


3. Are you Thin or Large?

Thin : Increases agility. Increases vulnerability. Allows entering of small areas.
Balanced : Increases strength. Increases Resistance.
Large : Increases endurance. Decreases speed and reflexes. Decreases stamina.




Inventory Capacity :

Worn items do not count for Capacity.
All items have a set amount of Weight.
Unable to carry any items once the limit has been reached.





Status Effects :

Poison :

You're poisoned. You need to find an antidote.
Decreases HP by 1 per round, decreases Endurance.
Poison wears over by time depending on the strength of poison.


Sickness :

You've become sick. You need to rest up.
Decreases stamina more rapidly, decreases overall effectivity.


Bleeding :

You're bleeding. You need to stop the bleeding.
Decreases HP by 0.3 per round. Adds +0.3 per Severity Level.


Radiated :

You've become radiated. You need to remove the radiation.
Decreases Max HP by 1 per Severity Level.


Confused :

You've become confused.
Decreases actions by 1. Decreases reflexes. Decreases



Tired :

You've become tired. Rest some.
Decreases all primary and secondary stats by half.





Factions :

Mafia :

They controll all and are evil. Enemy of all others.


Teknid :

Hi-Tech Race. Enemy of Legion.
Friend to Survivors.


Legion :

Rebellion Race. Enemy of Teknid.
Friend to Survivors.


Survivors :

Survivor of the old world. Enemy of Mafia.
Friend of Teknid and Legion.


Independant :

Person with no connection to any faction.
Friend or Enemy to all.





Spawn Location :

May pick South, West, North, East or Center.





Import :

If you were a previous Adventure Quest, you may Opt-In a bonus.
Get to keep all the gold.
Get to keep three items of choice.
Get to keep your obtained levels.

You keep the gold that you had. If you have less than 100, it'll bump to 100 instead.

The player limit is 1600 and they can join at any time, though joining later would cause them to lose the levels / items / etc that they would've obtained by being in the game.

Chapter 0 : Tutorial
(Shared with all players)




You wake up in an unknown area, complete darkness. Sitting on something comfortable, that's for sure.
Suddenly a squared light on the celling went active, making the room bright.

The room's completely white with sturdy white walls, you're sitting on a white wattress.
In front of you is a white door, with a crowbar attached to it.

You're wearing thin, white clothes that's covering your upper body & tighs and you're holding a spoon for some reason.
Apparantly, it's completely silent and you're alone. A good idea would be to escape.

Welcome to Adventure Quest RPG, the remake.
First, in order to see players qualify I would like to have a test. This test is shared to all players and can be discussed about.

The rule here is simple : Send in your action what you would do. All are limited to two actions.

The tutorial will last three rounds before the game starts for real and all players adventure on their own.

Consider this a warmup and an activity-check.

Damage will be rounded, but effects like poison and bleed would be decimals.

Edit : Many players will have 1 HP. Those with that will have a mercy shot of 0.1.

Chapter 0 : Tutorial
Round 2



You walk up to the door, taking the crowbar before using it to open the door.
As the door's forced open, you walk through only to witness another large, white room.

This room is identical but without an additional door and mattress. There's a table in the center of the room with a plastic bottle of soda and the walls are decorated with one painting of napoleon and the other with an asian emperor.

From time to time, the two paintings gaze towards you as if it were a real life person through a window.

Looking back to the room you just exited, it now look completely black even though the light's still on.

Because nearly all the players had an identical response to actions, I'm making it the same for everyone.
This one will be different.

An action is when you do something. "Inspect the sculpture.", "Jump repeatitively for no reason.", sequences are kind of discouraged but if it's creative and matches, I'll allow that as an action. An example "Pick up the crowbar for use to open the door."

It's more than that, it's asking what your game design style is. See tomb of horrors if you need a better idea of what I mean.

You partially answered my question, in your example you had pick up the crowbar be a free action. It would be nice if you gave a formal list of free actions

The paintings were just a decoy of a webcam, looking at you performing their test.
Perplexed, both of them were talking together clearly revealing that you failed the test.

A quick decision was made, you were put in to another room.



You are now in a room with thee doors : a green door, a red door and a final yellow door.
Behind you is a large map.

Notes :
Some players were confused by actions, so I'll explain it here :

IF actions are discouraged, since it'll become a bunch of IF strings.
I want two actions that can fit to a proper sentence or a string that'd make up for a whole action.

Don't worry about being cautious, you don't need to overthink. However, I've enjoyed reading the unique actions.

Chapter 1 : Welcome to Reality
Round 1



As the tests were compleeted, each of the subjects have received a hidden grade.
However, they were only satisfied with one subject that solved the puzzle flawlessly.

The simmulation were done and everyone woke up at a location they've never seen before.
A chest is nearby, ready to be looted.

A single player were successfull with the puzzle.

I request that from now on, PM's shall be given with the title "Adventure Quest, Round X" with X being the real round.
It'll count upwards, starting at 1 from this round on.

It's already written in the guide of the map.

3-12 would be Column 3 and Row 12, if I remember the terms correct.
It would be a desert tile next to a building at west.

Weapon armor stats pls.

Weapons don't have tier stats, though it's real stats should exist. Shotguns have burst but shorter range, snipers have incredible range, etc. It's how you use it.
Armor slow down speed by each "tier" though it's durability and how protective it is increase as well.


Movement doesn't count as an action, right?

Movement do not count as an action, though you won't do actions during or after a movement.

Multi-choices means that you can pick one of five. I'm trying to make it as idiotproof as possible.



A different note, weight will be properly introduced in Round 2 - worn items do not add to inventory capacity.

Internet went out during the night.

Anyway, a wolframalpha link to a game I explicitly said to not have a specific time other than 20-30ish hours? I hate pressure.

It's almost equal actually. 10+10+2.5+2.5 (25) versus 6.5+6.5+6.5+6.5 (26).

Passive allows a rhythm of choice, kind of, but backlashes with that one extra point.
That's when you have Neutrality, than having both an advantage and a disadvantage.

For Stamina, suggest:
Night/day: 2.5 (or 3)-10
Passive: 6-6
Can afford giving passive lower stamina usage since players with night/day attributes can be more efficient by choosing to rest during day/night.

For weight:
If retain Strength weight capacity scaling, increase item weight instead.

5) But you have a point, if the increase is too low, strength stat will be less useful

Fine, I'll make a full list with all item weights but that will delay the game further. This is only to avoid future confusion.
I'll also balance out Strength Requirements to justify the statistic variable.

Want to be convinced? It's because we will never encounter weight problems with how the maximum capacities look like. Even the ones who have a low maximum (me having one of the lowest), I think I would do still well with only 24 instead of 36. And the ones who used their stats to have a bigger inventory would still be fine with a quarter reduced.

You could've simply PM'd him just as I did. The lack of creativity in that regard will reflect in your actions.

Weight problems are realistic, and while most won't, it'd only be fair if atleast the ones who didn't increase their capacity encounter weight problems or atleast come close to. The people who have a high capacity should have no problems with this and the ones with low capacity (or the ones who would like to change their stats following the change) should atleast get the chance to change their stats (not perks/skills).

1. You could've asked about all these points, but they disturb balance. Hiding the character does not, you won't know who your opponent is most of the time either until you talk.

2. This game has realistic choices and a weight system was introduced to make it realistic in the sense that we can't just carry around everything we find. You talk as if that was not the case.

upon entering the area you find a dead body lying on the ground,with bite marks on his leg .it seems he also has a 44. Magnum by his Side with 3 sets of bullets next to him (one set of bullets is 6) he also had a old broken hunting rifle by his feet and a box of 5.56 bullets by the rifle.

You also see a wolf staring at you from a distance, there is also a lumber camp to your east and the famous water powerstation to your west.

Its one thing to play a game that someone took the time to create and manage and quite another to also have them modify the game to how you want it to be. There is no need to delay the game. We don't care about full list of all item weights. Such information do not make the game fun.

For Aldaris' question, just give a range values so that he can plan ahead. Won't take longer than 15 minutes, eg.

Light 0.5-3
Med 4-7
Heavy 7-11
Very Heavy 12-16

Each turn has been longer than 60 hours.

It's still day.

Strength have been nerfed from 12 to 9 (capacity), currency have been added (+100c to all players).
Round 5, players will all receive their Primary Missions. Regular quests can be found at any times.

Players can re-do their primary stats. The stats they've gained remain.

Due an argument about pistols, strength requirements removed if they use both their hands to use pistols.

Oh and more news : Everyone gain +1 primary point that can be spend, for good luck of reaching round 3.

Final Note : You can't do an action when you're moving to a different tile, you must wait for the next round.

Oh, and City Maps have been published together with the Water Powerstation by the forest.

I'm just trying to use a little humor to highlight 2 metrics that don't scale properly. Pistols and towels do not get proportionally heavier the better they are, that is to say they're not like swords or melee weapons where a measure of the effectiveness (of a swing for instance) is strongly tied to the weight.

I'd like to ask you to reconsider this. This nerfs intelligence. If you're trekking through the wilderness, trying to explore, you really want to be able to explore your current square and the square you move to.

3. I'm assuming you get some bonus every 5 points in something for stats and skills, can you go into detail about this?

4. How do you level up and improve your skills ingame? How difficult is it to do so?

I understand the statement, and I'm just pointing out that this unnecessarily nerfs intelligence in my view as well as discourage Nature dwellings vs City Dwellings. Not to mention that once you start getting vehicles of increasing speeds, it takes less time to move as well.

I hope you will reconsider and answer my other questions too.

If a player dies, they'll respawn / reincarnate at a hidden location (no one spawns in the same place), all stats are reduced by 25%-50% and loose majority if not all of their money as well a select amount of items.

Word of advice : Don't die.

A game is a game. If its entertaining who cares? The only thing you need a break down of mechanics for is to break the game in your favor. For me this game will be very fun because of the social aspect with the attached community. Lies and deception is the mafia way. I really don't give a shit what the host has jotted down in his notes. He could bend the game in any way he wants so long as the game stays fun and I have good people to play it with.

If you wanted a 100% locked down game you will not find it on a forum with a live host. Hosts have to decide on rules as the game develops. Refer to every FM and S-Fm as well as any Forum D&D. This game has already been proven to be functional. Can we cut the technically bullshit and have fun?

We appreciate you hosting a game. But frankly you need to continue. It doesn't matter if someone was banned, if they suicided, if they were mean etc. the game has to go on. We cannot slow down the many for the few, that ruins the fairness and interest for active players.

The game has gone afk for too long now. Sure, RL happens and sometimes there are delays, but that should not be happening every time.

You need to decide what you can commit to and then commit to it. If 30 hours is too quick, then make it 48 or 72 or one week or whatever, but commit to it and follow through.

Well its true schedule is very important. Though imo the shorter the time the better (just think of how long 100 rounds will take). Imo 1 or 2 d is optimal.

The catch is, you can only pick reasonably and can't have multiple that contradict eachothers.

These missions are related to Chapter 1.

1. (Faction) : Eleminate the enemy factions of your faction.
2. Discover the secret of the Lost World.
3. Take over the world.
4. Evil : Destroy the world.
5. Good? : Remove all conflict in the world.
6. Cause all factions to disband.

2. The players are unable to attack eachothers during an alliance.
3. The alliance ignore if you're allied with enemies.
4. The world may knowledge that you're allied with enemies, though.

Simply have it in Bolded Green to invite / accept a player. Both need to do this to eachothers to join.

Lastly, there's a secret tournament so the selected heroes may opt-in to join a blood tournament for survival.
Dying won't penaltize, but they won't receive rewards by dying. Simply type "Opt-In Tournament" to temporarily edge off main story.

Tournament last three rounds, and are "perfectly balanced" for all players that join.
What's the reward? It can be statboosts or extremely good equipment.

Here's my schedule and you can probably understand why I'm doing so little of this.



Monday : "All Service".
Tuesday : "All Service".
Wednesday : "School".
Thuesday : "School".
Friday : "Work".

In addition to this, my father keep going to the north sea platforms for 2-3 weeks straight and my mother is physically ill.

"All Service" : A place for dummies to train things at. I'm not a dummy, but the norwegian system NAV said I should be there.
"School" : A place for dummies to teach things at. They don't know how to teach, 4 years - not a single thing learned.
These things here completely drain my sanity and feel like forever, I just want to relax.

Work's fine though.

In all of the days Monday-Friday, the system NAV threatens me almost everytime, causing me stress constantly and if I do not show up or get certain things done quick enough they will stop all my money and widraw all of them, which should be illegal but isn't.

Sometimes I sleep all the time, sometimes I just game to try and relax my nerves.



Screw this, I'm doing a schedule for the gamers here, starting officially on Monday. I hope you understand my reason though.

So do we play the game like a deathmatch against all participants and have to pick one of each to use on one player? Kinda confusing since you used yourself as example.

Edit: You only have one use of each (stone/paper/scissor) and you need to pick three. Since there's 4 players, exclude yourself and there's just enough for all.

I wanted to see if anyone would figure that one out, since there can't possibly be any other "win conditions".
