So Apo notices that it's not actually a letter replacement cipther(atleast not a simplstic one), like the one Apo was using above

You are indeed correct Apo.

OK! APO IS EVEN MORE CONFUSED NOW! He is not good at cryptology as is....but your use of cbuvvuv being converted from correct is messing everything up for him. it seems to also be letter displacement.

Sorry Apo, the thing is, let's say you get so far as to figure out the pattern, you're still going to need the key to convert it all. Maybe if you had access to a super computer. I'll give you one more clue in case you do have access to a supercomputer.

is this a simple one letter to one letter function anyway??

It seems not in my eyes.

It is probably more complex.

However, the key has to be related to the function.

Still, doesn't worth the effort to crack it.

From wiki:

Vigenère can also be viewed algebraically. If the letters A–Z are taken to be the numbers 0–25, and addition is performed modulo 26, then Vigenère encryption E using the key K can be written,

C_i = E_K(M_i) = (M_i+K_i) \mod {26}

and decryption D using the key K,

M_i = D_K(C_i) = (C_i-K_i) \mod {26},

whereas M = M_0 \dots M_n is the message, C = C_0 \dots C_n is the ciphertext and K = K_0 \dots K_m is the used key.

Thus using the previous example, to encrypt A \widehat{=} 0 with key letter L \widehat{=} 11 the calculation would result in 11 \widehat{=} L.

11 = (0+11) \mod {26}

Therefore to decrypt R \widehat{=} 17 with key letter E \widehat{=} 4 the calculation would result in 13 \widehat{=} N.

13 = (17-4) \mod {26}

so it is one on one then in a sense.

He thinks the stuff they've said in their code is infractable; perhaps he thinks I'll be infracted for knowing what they've said and not infracting them :P

It's all rather mild stuff, really. Just some raging at mods, plans to screw with the reputation system (as if it wasn't screwed already), and jokes about being a rebel organization hiding from mods with secret chat. I didn't see anything truly insidious, which I would have revealed and perhaps infracted them for.

And it looks like Creed has figured out the code too, so he can go ahead and read what they've said and determine for himself if he thinks they should be infracted.
