If a player uses multiple vote tags in a post, only the first one will pick up. I've seen this in numerous games now. Is this just something to expect from now on?

Pretty sure it is just how it is. This is more of a site discussion topic though, since nothing anyone can do will matter unless oops_ur_dead decides to step in.

It really isn't a problem if you user the commands correctly, for example not instead of unvoting then voting, just vote.

Why do yu need to vote more than 1 person in a post?

unvote

vote

but.. if you just add a vote on someone else, it erases your old vote. the unvote is just a waste of time to write.

unvote

vote

but you never need to unvote unless you want to vote no one.

do you disagree or something?
what is the benefit of unvoting and then voting again in the same post?

Doing this change makes more work for Oops just so we can put more work into our posts. It's just not worth the time for anybody.
