I know there are already SQ2 and 3, but they were stolen, so this is an official one.

DON'T LEAVE THE THREAD, GAME HAS CHANGED A BIT!

So, 10-15 players gather together and solve puzzles.

1. Each player has 4 lives only
2. There are 24 hours to solve the puzzle. The one who won't send his solution on time will lose 1 life.
3. Solutions are sent to me in PM.
4. You have 1 guess only. If it's right, you pass the puzzle and go farther. If it's wrong, you still continue the game but you lose 1 life.
5. This time there will be no stupid RP puzzles, only using your mind.

After there are 10 players, they must vote in private for the Puzzle theme (one of the suggested) then the game begins.
If the game has already begun and there are still some extra spots, you can still join in Part 2, but then you start with 3 lives only.

Survivors:

1. Fatalis The Ninja
2. Damus_.Graves
3. Ash STILL SURVIVALIST
4. Roflcopter Simply Awesome
5. creedkingsx The Peacemaker
6. RLVG The Newcomer
7. Glip The First Champion
8. Gzz The Curious Mind
9. Jr4life24 The Eye
10. zingo1zang The Extremist

Extra-spots:

1. SuperJack The Doctah
2. 42shadow42
3.
4.

Sorry for being inactive, have been celebrating the New Year! Also my first halfterm has ended in college, with two B's and all A's (got scholarship, woohoo!!!)

So, there is a hard situation as private voting didn't bring us the survival theme clearly. There are 2 themes with equal numbers of votes. I'm sorry if somebody disagrees with my decision, but I think I should choose one of players' favourite themes.

Alien Spaceship - 2
Jungle Planecrashing - 2
Pyramid Maze - 1
Magical Forest - 1

Well, the choice is hard enough, I think, so I'll dice it...
So, the dice has shown Jungle Planecrashing!

Part 1. Lost

Darkness... There's nothing in front of you. You hardly can hear screams and plane buzzing around you...
You open your eyes. Leg hurts a bit, mud covers your body but you find strength to get up and walk. There are many dead bodies around you, but also there are survivors. You can't believe in wha's happening. Around an hour ago you were just a simple Race 204-B passenger, but now you have to fight for every breathe you make. So the other survivors do.
By the end of the day one of the survivors has already taken leadership. Some people brought some wood and made a campfire, others brought some leaves for the shelters, last ones were searching the crashed plane for food, medicals and other goods.
***
The next morning a group of 11 survivors decided to look for any signs of road or a village. They walked along the alley of tall tropic trees. Their leaves covered the sky so it was a bit hard to determine what time it was here. By the way survivors faced to different strange things: scratches on trees, big footsteps in the mud.
It was dark now. The survivors had to come back to the camp. But on their way one of the survivors - Fatalis - found some old tablet covered with strange symbols in the bush. "Hey, I think I know this language" - one of the survivors claimed. - "My name's Ash. I studied South American ancient languages for a couple of years and still have some skills in it. Let me see..."

You must translate the tablet using the given examples of the same language translated:

Tablet text:

Kouhs Orghullan

Examples:

Koghan Bukutus - Female Creature

Luhs Gatal - Far Away

Mes Altre Hul Lan Piere- I Have Got Ten Torchs

Orglat Mar'Jul - Forever Real

Tip: In this language same letters combination has equal translations

Rules:

You may ask questions about the puzzle in green
You have 1 guess only.
Send me your guess in private
You cannot discuss your answer with other players neither here nor in private
Once you send your answer, type Answered in the thread so that the thread will lock once every player sends his answer.
There are no time restrictions for this part as I'll be back either on 5th or on 12th of January (spending 2 weeks with my grate-grandpa, he seems pretty ill these days).

There's more than 6 possible answers, depending on the grammatical structure of the other language. I assumed that the translation was meant to be fully translated English words, not names, and that narrowed it down to 2 (excluding slang words. "cray" was a possible translation I disregarded") and then just chose the one I thought fit best. I could easily be wrong, but I didn't feel like pondering too long over this puzzle, so I just rushed it and guessed.

Alright, the thing with votes doesn't work much so this rule is cancelled.
Now 4 people has already answered. If you need more time, I'll give you a day or two.

A little explanation: same GROUPS of letters have their own groups of letters despite of the meaning. But separate letters don't have these equals.

Damus_Graves
January 4th, 2013, 01:56 AM
Esp I still don't get what you mean by same groups of letters vs single letters

Espozito
January 4th, 2013, 02:04 AM
Well, for example, if Rago = Fore then it will always be equal, despite the position in any word:

DisRAGO = JeFORE

But that doesn't mean that R = F or A = O.

This is totally not the thing that helps us getting outta here. We must search for anything really useful." "Agreed" - Gzz nodded. The Survivors decided to get back to camp, but there was something they wouldn't have expected.
"Wha..." - Ash stood with opened mouth. "The hell?" - Damus stood too. The terrain where the camp was supposed to be, was completely empty. No campfire, no leaf-tents, no people, no even a goddamn crashed plane! "Where did everything go?" - zingo asked. - "Were we moving in right direction?" "Yes, creedkingsx was supposed to make a map while we were going." "My map is right, check the compass." - creed argued. "It's not the case about the navigation." - Glip said. - "It's about this place." "Oh, don't you start all that campfire horror stories" - RLVG claimed. - "We're just lost. And we need to track ourselves backwards and find the camp." Everyone agreed to go back...

We had no way of knowing that it was nine letters.

Uhs was translated as "ar", so you can't say that a grouping of three letters always translates to three letters in English.

Therefore, up until he posted the fourth translation, "begotten" and "ungotten" were still possible translations. And "misbegotten" was less likely but couldn't be entirely ruled out either.

A little meta however is that it's the Very First Puzzle, it would be rather difficult if we had to deal with extending or shortening what letters we already got.

As I said, we already had to deal with shortening what letters we already got with "uhs", three letters, being translated as "ar", two letters. As such, "org" could just have easily been translated as "be" or "un", until he posted the fourth translation.

And if you play enough FM you learn that "a little meta" is quite unreliable, although I will say that it was only because of meta that I felt safe in submitting my answer before determining a failsafe translation of "org".

Fear forgotten and Fear begotten make the same amount of sense.

It could mean something like Fear has been forgotten, like the ancient civilization had nothing left to fear, and lived in peace and harmony or whatsit.

Or maybe it's saying to Fear the forgotten ones, like some even more ancient evil came and wiped them out, and is still here, waiting to prey on us.

The arrival of the forgotten ones would most definitely beget fear in the ancient civilization, which would be "Fear Begotten"

Or maybe the "forgotten ones" are some sort of demon spawn, in which case they'd be the "begotten" ones too. Fear the Begotten ones

Now, if the ancient civilization never actually had anything to fear, then it would be fear ungotten.

Fear Misbegotten = They were afraid of something they shouldn't have been afraid of.

Most likely methinks it's telling us to Fear the Forgotten Ones! There must be some ancient evil that lies waiting for us in this forest. We'd best be on our guard.

Part 2. Cursed Empire

Survivors were going through the jungles searching for their last footsteps to find their way back to camp. In the end they were very surprised as footsteps dissappeared just near the place where they found the tablet. "Maybe a rain erased it?" - Ash suggested. "Have you seen the rain? Or have you heard it? Nah, there are no signs of anyone or anything erasing it." - Damus_Graves said. "Damus is right" - Glip agreed. - "These jungles are not the same. Here were different trees in different positions". "Jesus, stop all those scary things about the jungles. Don't claim that you've remembered all the trees around!" - Gingerape argued. "Guys, we need to find a hideout" - Ash reminded. "And some food, I'm starving" - zingo said. "Alright, let's move then" - Glip commanded.
It started getting darker. Even through all the leaves it was now even darker than it was during the day.
In the end they decided to have a rest near some big tree. Damus broke some sticks and Ash used his lighter to make a campfire.
Fatalis made a torch and went to look around. "I found something!" - he suddenly signaled. Everyone came to him and Fatalis shown a big ancient wall covered with same symbols as at the tablet. "Well, at least now it will be easy to translate these signs" - Ash said and started inspecting the wall. "And that's all? What's the point of searching this old dirty wall?" - zingo claimed. "We need something to do anyway and I don't wanna sleep this night anyway" - Damus said and joined the inspection.

The translated text is a story, maybe a legend about ancient Emperors of Nis Empire that ruled these lands.

"By the rise of the seventh Sun, Emperor Tsul was born. From the time he started ruling the Empire, he was surrounded by women's beauty and love. He had 365 wives to have one of them each day of the year. But it was Leap Year coming, when there were 366 days. And he wanted to have one more wife, but she must be the most beautiful from all of his wives. He ordered to find him a woman and he found her in a small fishing village. She didn't want to come with him and because of that Emperor took her with force and burnt the village. When the year was over and it was the last day coming, Tsul invited the new woman to his bedchamber. At first she agreed to some, but that night she tookand hided a silver fork after the dinner, looked deeply in Emperor's eyes and put this fork in his throat. After that a riot started in the Palace and the whole harem has been executed on fire.

The next decade Emperor Ynot-Tulg, one of the Tsul's lost sons started his ruling. He was a wise Emperor but very fat because he was having 5 dinners each day and a dinner party every Sunday. His councilors tried to stop him from eating that much, but he refused their help. After several years a stranger came to the Palace claiming that he was the greatest cook in the whole Empire and asked to serve Ynot's next dinner. When the dinner started and the Emperor tried the first course, it was so wonderful that he wanted more. The main course was even better and Emperor started asking more and more, he ate so much food that by the end of the day he wasn't able even to swallow any more piece of food. He suffocated and fell right on the table. The stranger has been executed and the Emperor's guards started looking for another Tsul's son.

Three years later they found him. Emperor De'Erg was a lost son of Tsul that was carried out by an old by kind woman from the town that was near the capital. De'Erg tired from living in poverty and he was very happy to know that he had to be the Emperor. He was so surprised by the riches he had got that he started spending hours in his treasure room, playing with golden armor and covered with diamonds wineglasses. Then his mother came to him. She asked him to give the town a few gold coins to solve the poverty there. After such request Emperor went completely mad. He ordered to throw the old woman out from the Palace and forbid her to enter the Capital of the Empire. After that day De'Erg became crazy. He started thinking that everybody comes to him only to ask for his riches to share. He hided all the treasures and killed everyone who knew about their location. In the end, he was so worrying about them that he put all of them in the Palace tomb and locked himself inside with all his gold, silver and diamonds. After a month the tomb has been opened and De'Erg's corpse was siting in the corner of the room, still holding his treasures.

Palace guards panicked. They had no other Emperor but they had to choose a new one. There were two generals in the army, they were brothers: Ht-Ols and Ht-Arw. Each of them wanted the throne even harder than the other and they started fighting for the crown. After the fight, in wich Ols cheated, Arw has been banished from the Empire forever and Ht-Ols became the Emperor. He was having great time in the Palace, during the whole day he was lying on his throne. He even made it mobile so that he could ride without leaving his chair, moved by his subjects. He became completely lazy, Osl didn't want to make any changes in his Empire, didn't want to solve social or political problems.

After all, Ht-Arw returned to the Empire with great army from North that helped him to conquer the Capital. When Arw entered the main room of the Palace, he found fat Ols lying in his chair. "Stand up and fight me like a real man!" - Arw ordered. But Ols answered that he didn't even want to. That was "too hard" for him. Arw became really mad about it and killed his brother without any regret and took his crown. He was so crazy about his brother being unable to fight him that he started tyrannizing the whole Empire, burning every village he didn't like.

15 years later, Arw's son Yv-Ne grown up and was ready to take the crown, but first his farther had to die. He decided to wait. Arw became very old but still he was able to rule the Empire. After all, Yv asked him why couldn't he become Emperor right now. "You are too young for this, my dear" - Emperor ansewered. "But I can become the Emperor. I want to become the Emperor! I want the crown! I want it!" - he screamed loudly and tried to take the crown by force. Arw was too old to fight eventhough Yv was just a child. Yv took a sword and killed his farther to take the crown. After becoming an Emperor, he ordered every town and village in the Empire to bring him the best food, best women and the most expensive treasures. And after travelling around the Empire, he always found anything he liked and he wanted to take it.

--------------"

The part about the Last Emperor is broken and unreadable. Now you must tell me the name of the Last Emperor, according to other Emperors' stories.
Tip: there are no " ' " or "-" marks in his name, his name is signle and is not divided.

Maybe an idea is to draw the characters in the RPG Thread. :p

Part ending

"And what is that? Another stupid story?" - Ash asked. "No, wait. This story has to have one more legend about the last Emperor." - Glip said. - "But last part was destroyed." "I don't understand" - Gzz said - "How will this help us to survive? This is just a useless piece of stone in some old forgotten jungles!" "Stop." - Gingerape interrupted him. - "What about the tablet? It says "Fear Forgotten"." "Yes, some forgotten fear" - Fatalis said. - "So what?" "No-no-no. You don't get it." - Gingerape continued. - "What if we read it wrong? What if "Forgotten" is a noun? Maybe this is a warning, like "Fear The Forgotten one"." "Possible." - creedkingsx agreed. - "But who or what is the Forgotten one?" "Maybe the last Emperor. Without the legend about him everyone could forget even his name. Between, what was his name?" "Edirp." - Damus answered. "Resersed "Pride"." "So, you mean that Edirp is the guy from the tablet?" - Fatalis asked. - "Edirp The Forgotten?"
Suddenly trees far away from survivors started shaking. There was something huge hiding behind them and it started getting closer and closer really fast. "What... is that?" - Roflcopter asked. A square of dirt started getting down under survivors' feet. They fell down in some huge dark room, maybe a hall, and the platform of fake dirt got up again, closing the roof of the room. Survivors were now safe from whatever was moving to them. But they didn't know are they now.

The whole story is about Seven Deadly Sins. All the Emperors' stories have something to do with sins that made Emperors suffer from many bad things.
Even their names are reversed names of Sins:

Tsul - Lust (he had harem)
Ynot-Tulg - Gluttony (he ate a lot)
De-Erg - Greed (he couldn't live without his treasures)
Ht-Ols - Sloth (completely lazy guy)
Ht-Arw - Wrath (he was mad about his brother being so unhororably killed)
Yv-Ne - Envy (Arw's son was jealous to his crown)

But last Sin is missing. It is Pride. That means that Emperor's name will be reversed:

Edirp

Part 3. Under the Pressure

Survivors tried to get out of the room. Some tried to climb the walls, but they were too smooth. Others were looking for some kind of door. "Happy now?!" - Superjack cried at Fatalis. "Why? I didn't do anything! Or do you think a few words is able to activate some kind of ancient trap?" - Fatalis argued. "Shut up and listen!" - Glip ordered looking on the roof. Something from outside started knocking the platform. "We have not much time to make our way out of here. Any ideas?" "If this is some kind of trap, there must be some way out. Look for any buttons or levers." - Damus suggested. Everyone started searchings. "I think I found it!" - Gingerape claimed. - "But there are... many levers..."

There is a door in front of you that is the way out of the hall. It is divided in 5 parts (A-E) and has 5 levers on the wall nearby (1-5). Each lever has letetrs on it. The letters mean the parts of the wall wich are affected by the lever. Lever effect closes or openes the part depending on part's condition. For example: If part A is closed and part C is opened, then lever 1 with letters "A, C" will open A and close C, but doesn't have any effect on B, D or E.

Here are the levers:

1. A, D
2. B, E
3. B, C
4. A, C, E
5. B, C. D

You must push the levers and open all the parts (they are all closed at start).
You may use each lever more than once.
As the answer, send me the code containing the numbers of levers in order you pushed them.

Warning! The one who will make the longest code will die!

I noticed an error, I didn't solve it after all...
Fuck me, I thougth I actually solved it.:suspicious:

In fact, now that I see - it's actually impossible.

BE, BC, ACE to be specific.

You can get A and D to be alone, but not B, C or E.
I've literally tried every combination.

The ACE is broken as it keeps replacing the BE and BC counterpart in anything.
Example :
BC, ACE = ABE, BC = ACE
BE, ACE = ABC, BE = ACE
ABE, BE = A
ABC, BC = A

AD, BE = ABDE, ACE = BCD, BC = D
AD, BC = ABCE, ACE = BDE, BE = D
ACE, AD = CDE

CDE, BE = BCD
CDE, BC = BDE

BCD, ACE = ABDE
BDE, ACE = ABCD

AD/BE
AD/BC

BE, BC = CE
CE, ACE = A

A, AD = D
D, AD = A

A, BE = ABE
A, BC = ABC

ABE, AD = BDE
ABC, AD = BCD

ABE, BC = ACE
ABC, BE = ACE

Any combination also results in being the same, so there's limited amount of actual combinations.

AD, ACE = CDE, AD = ACE

BE, BC = CE
CE, BE = BC
CE, BC = BE

So here's the full example :

4 ACE
--- ACE
1 AD
--- CDE
2 BE
--- BCD
3 BC
--- D / AD = A
4 ACE
--- ACDE
1 AD
--- CE / ACE = A, BE = BC, BC = BE
^^^^
3 BC
--- D
1 AD
--- A
2 BE
--- ABE / BC = ACE
1 AD
--- BDE
4 ACE
--- ABCD / BE = ACDE, BC = AD...

Solution : Introduce lever 5.

If you'd like to, I can remove this. It's only there to demostrate that it's impossible and to show it's impossible so most wouldn't try to needlessly solve this.

With the following set of levers:

1. A, D
2. B, E
3. B, C
4. A, C, E
5. B, C, D

The puzzle is still not solvable. Espo, in order for this to be solvable, we need a fifth lever that flips only one of B, C, or E. Or all three. (It can also flip anything else along with that, but it's necessary that only one of B, C, or E gets flipped.)

1. A, D
2. B, E
3. B, C
4. A, C, E
5. B, C. D

The 5th option doesn't do anything.

It's only a BC (3) with an additional D.
A,C,E as illustrated above, can't create any sepperate combinations with BC / BE.

D was never a problem.

First we need something that can make B, C or E remain alone out of all the 5.

I've added 5th lever (see Part 3) and checked if it workd. It did.

I'm going to say this : Either you did something wrong, or the puzzle are different then we're told.

The problem with this type of puzzle is that it doesn't matter what order you flip the levers in. Thus flipping any lever twice, regardless of when in the order, does nothing. This means that the fastest solution (if one exists) will always be at most equal to the number of levers, flipping each one once.
