He's not trying to trick you.

There were 13 (iirc[or maybe 7. Those numbers are in my head]) presidents before George Washington.

It's just not taught to inspire national spirit by giving the American people a demi-god in the form of Washington (the previous presidents weren't exactly awe-inspiring)

The question was dealing with presidents of the United States, not presidents of the Continental Congress, which John Hanson was, and which, while similar in terms of its name, social, and diplomatic precedence, is different in terms of its executive powers. Also there were 14 (one of which only actually served for 4 days though, so that's where your 13 came from) of them in total--7 before the ratification of the Articles of Confederation, and 7 after (not including those serving second terms), which John Hanson was the first elected.

George Washington was the first president elected after the ratification of the United States Constitution. That's why he is treated as the first president of the United States. Not because he was "cooler" than the rest of the guys.

The people of America called themselves citizens of "These United States" long before the Constitution came out.

Question 2: What event marked the end of the American Revolution?
There are a few answers to this.

The Treaty of Paris or the Battle of Yorktown.

Final Answer.

You are correct, wars always go on until a treaty is presented.

The people of America called themselves citizens of "These United States" long before the Constitution came out.

That is called speculation. Until the civil war was won there was no USA. First president was George Washington. Check your facts sir.

If a tree falls down in a forest, but no one is there to hear it, did it make a sound?

If a tree falls down in a forest, but no one is there to hear it, did it make a sound?

No because sound is only a perception, it will still make the vibrations but without anyone to hear it the tree will not make a "sound."

If a tree falls down in a forest, but no one is there to hear it, did it make a sound?

I'm sure a squirrel or creature nearby would perceive the falling as a sound.

The real question is: If a tree falls in the forest and nothing is around to perceive it, does the tree really fall?

yes it does really fall because you said the tree fell. Unless you're lying.

I asked if it made a sound if there was nothing to listen to it.

Brendan
November 20th, 2012, 07:59 PM
No, because sound is a perception and there is nothing to perceive.
