Also it's easier to see on paper than on a comp screen

I saw it... The shark, or aleast that's what it looked like. I used to have some Magic Eye books a long time ago, but I remember not being able to do it with computer images, only in the books.

It's the most awesome thing when you finally get it right and the image materializes. Even cooler on the computer, I think.

EDIT: I just got it again. It's definitely a shark, or a fish of similar sort, imprinted in from the background.

There is a shark.

Wewt. What do I win?

EDIT: I just realized you can make it so that the shark appears both ways; as being dented in from the background, or popping out from.

Don't ask me how, though. It just happened to happen to me.

It's a trick you have to get used to. It's hard to do at first.

It's the wierdest thing. I don't think I can effectively explain how to do it. I'm sure there's some Magic Eye tutorial out on the internet that'll explain it better.

For me, it's something about allowing your eyes to go out of focus, sorta like you're going cross-eyed, but don't force it, and then with your eyes unfocused, try to find anything in the picture that's sticking out or indented in (literally, like as if it were 3D) and then there's this sudden moment of clarity and the full hidden 3-D image comes into focus, and there's some sort of vibrant quality about the colors that makes it really cool to look at.

Like I said. It is something that is really difficult to learn, and hard to explain. Like Glip, I learned from a back a long time ago.

The best piece of advice I have is to try to look past the image. Like imagine there was a cup behind your computer aligned with the picture.

It's EXTREMELY difficult to figure out how to do, but once you figure it out, the more you do it, the easier it becomes to do it each time.

And apparently it's like riding a bike, because I don't remember looking at any magic eye stuff in like, 10 years, but I'm able to do it now.

You need to be cross-eyed. Isn't that right little brother.

Cross-eyed isn't the right way to explain it. Upon further examination of my technique, I noticed that my eyes don't go cross-eyed, but in fact do a little of the opposite.

It's like instead of focusing on a single point, the eyes focus further apart so it's more like each eye is looking directly forward instead of angled in to look at the same point.

I discovered this by moving my mouse on top of the picture, and noticing that I saw two pointers, and that if I deliberately crossed my eyes, they spread apart in the opposite direction.

EDIT: Moved the following to this post because I noticed posts actually count here.

So i tried the whole unfocus your eyes thing and the picture still looks like it's breathing..

Something else that might work is putting your mouse on the center of the picture, staring intently at the very tip of the pointer, and then allowing your eyes to unfocus while keeping that pointer in the center of your vision.

I remember at first that it was hard to allow my eyes to unfocus because they kept wanting to snap back to attention and stare at the picture.
