View Full Version : (Accepted) Save Setup as Code

Anyone who played WC3 will remember that map saving used to be done through generating a code that the user would record and then enter the next time they play. I propose we bring this back to Mafia for setup saving. A player can type -savecode to generate a code for the given setup, which would be output to the user. They can then enter -code <code> to be able to load the setup from the given code. This would allow people to have multiple saved setups without using the bankfile, and also make it easier to share setups over the internet.

Inputting a 30 character code instead of hitting the Save button? Eh. I'd rather just have a single save than have to enter multiple 30 character codes for each save I want to load.

I like this idea quite a lot. People have absolutely zero patience on the NA server, so if you want to mix your games up, you have to change your save and make a new one.

You said it wouldn't replace the save slot, so I'm all for it.

This could work I guess. It's useful for the more serious players out there.

Making a working, unoptimized version is really easy: i just make it accept and spit out a code similar to the ones saved in the save slot. However, it'll be way too long. I would need a compression algorithm, which makes this trickier. In fact, it makes it extremely annoying to make in the SC2 editor. If oops wants to write the compression algorithm for me, though, I'll implement this.

K I'll be implementing this. Marked as accepted.

So basically this means multiple setups and potentially more bank space? Fuck yes

That was a quick implementation...

Sc2mafia needs this

Edit: This is not a joke.

I'm not sure how the data is handled as is, the sc2mafia galaxy file was compressed last time I checked.
