Hello everyone! This time, I came with another good setup. It is fairly small, but compatible for S-FM setups. The setting will take in Five-Sided Town once again, after the Mafia took the rule there. The Mafia here are the primary antagonists, and they are the ONLY team that can communicate with each other at night. Members of other factions do NOT know each other's roles, so this will bring the setup closely to "classic" Mafia theme. Here is the role list:

The Mafia
Godfather
Hidden Mafia
Hidden Mafia

The Town
Hidden Police
Hidden Police
Hidden Police
Hidden Militia
Hidden Militia
Hidden Militia

Neutral
Hidden Tycoon
Hidden Tycoon
Hidden Outlaw
Hidden Outlaw

Like I said before, only Mafia knows the roles of each other. Their primary objective is to kill Police and Militia members, as well as solve dispute between Tycoons and Outlaws. Even though other 4 factions does not know the roles of each other, their win conditions are pretty much the same as they were in original Five-Sided Town:

The Police must lynch or kill all Outlaws and Mafia. Wins with either Militia or Tycoons.
The Militia must lynch or kill all Mafia and Tycoons. Wins with either Police or Outlaws.
The Outlaws must lynch or kill all Tycoons and Police. Wins with either Mafia or Miltia.
The Mafia must lynch or kill all Police and Militia. Wins with either Tycoons or Outlaws.
The Tycoons must lynch or kill all Militia and Outlaws. Wins with either Mafia or Police.

Furthermore, each faction will lose automatically if all members of the faction are dead. So do your best to stay alive!

The primary focus here will be Mafia against Police/Militia members. Be wary of "neutral" Tycoons/Outlaws - they can win with Mafia, but they are also hostile to each other, and they may also with with one of the "town" factions. Since the Mafia are the primary focus of the game, expect the town actively searching for then. It is possible to make alliances between some teams. No more than 2 teams can win the game (for example Police & Militia, or Mafia & Tycoons). Another example is, that if you are on Mafia Team, you can choose to joint with with Outlaws or Tycoons, but not both, since they are hostile to each other. Note that making alliances here is much more difficult since only Mafia knows the roles of each other.

The voting system works as normal - you need more than half of votes in order to lynch a player.

Don't be confused by complexity of this setup - your primary focus is to search for Mafia members first, since they are at advantage! Expect any possible "false" role claims - they can pose thenselves as Militia, Police or any other role, and since other players do not know the roles of each other, they can be easily fooled by Mafia. This is the game of truth and lies, after all.

And now we go on the role list!

Police
Possible Roles:

Jailor: Jails target person at the start of night, roleblocking and locking him out of team chats. The jailed person gains night immunity. The Jailor can make 2 executions per game. The jailer can only execute his target if no one was lynched
Sleuth: Can read target player's last will. Also can learn the exact role of a dead player.
Detective: Check target player to see whom he visited.
Investigator: Check target player for possible roles. 3 roles will be shown up at random, and only one of then will be the true role.
Sheriff: Check target player for being an wanted criminal. Mafia and Outlaw will show up as "wanted criminal". Anyone else will show up as "not suspicious".
Vigilante: Can kill a person at night. Limited to 2 shots.

Town Militia
Possible roles:

Mason Leader: Attempts to recruit his target. If target player is a member of Militia, you will learn the idenities of each other and will be able to use night chat. However, if your target is a Tycoon or Mafia, he will know who you are.
Bodyguard: Chooses one player to protect and one person to keep an eye on. Will kill the attacker and sacrifice his life unless he kept an eye on the attacker.
Doctor: Can heal a person at night to save him from death
Lookout: Can watch a person to see who visited him this night.
Journalist: Takes an interview from a player at the beginning of the night. The interview will be posted on the next day.
Armorsmith: Gives armor to target player. The armor can only protect him from one attack.

The Mafia
They can kill 1 person at night as usual. Possible roles:

Godfather: Immune all kinds of detection. Immune to night kills (except from Jailor). Will show up as inactive, non-suspicious player to investigative roles. Can kill by himself.
Janitor: Cleans the target's role and last will. Limited to 2 cleanings.
Blackmailer: Blackmails target person, allowing him only to speak phrase "I am blackmailed" up to three times and vote only once.
Consigliere: Check target player for possible roles. 2 roles will be shown up at random, and only one of then will be the true role.
Consort: Roleblock target player, preventing him from performing any actions.
Dirty Sleuth: Can read target player's last will.
Actress: Can choose a player to pose as. When Actress dies, will show up as that player's role.
Mafioso: Can only kill someone at night.

The Outlaws
Possible roles:

Arsonist: Douses target player (who will be notified), or burn up all doused targets.
Drug Dealer: Drugs target player, making him to believe that he was doused, charged, bribed, switched, or roleblocked.
Escort: Roleblock target player, preventing him from performing any actions.
Electro Maniac: Charges target player, or kill already charged player. When one charged person visits another, they both electrocute.
Grave Robber: Robs target player's grave. He will be able to use that player's ability later. Each grave can be pillaged only once.

The Tycoons:

Roles:
Tycoon: Bribe target player with large sum of money, controlling him to visit another player. Basically the same as Witch.
Bus Driver: Can switch two target players. Cannot switch himself
Merchant: Target one player and leak that player's possible role to another player. 3 roles will be shown up at random, and only one of then will be the true role.
Gunsmith: Gives 1-shot gun to target player.
Spy: Can read the Mafia night chat, and Militia night chat if possible. Mafia team must be very careful, as Spy can win with Police as well. The Spy will only see anonymous nicknames. The entire night chat log will be shown up to Spy only at the end of night. Spy CAN be roleblocked.

So? Do you like the Mafia-focused approach to this game?

We need approval from Luna first, so don't be rash.

That being said, can unorganized factions win against organized Mafia? Will Tycoons and Outlaws choose to help Mafia, or one of the closest "town" half? This game is no less thrilling the original Five-Sided game, maybe even better, because of more possible lies and WIFOM.

Basically standard Mafia with night chat which wants town dead together with Neutrals that somewhat want town dead and a Town potentially divided. Using SC2 Mafia standards, am I correct to view this setup as 3 mafia + 4 executioner (target town and neutral) + 6 town? And town do not have majority vote to lynch mafia...

We might need a Mayor. Else night actions and power roles need to be balanced well. Lets try it out.

EDIT: In short, how to avoid Mafia from ruling both day chat and night chat?

The Tycoons and Outlaws are hostile to each other. Furthermore, even if they are not enemies of Mafia, they are still at risk, as they can may be killed by Mafia at night if they blend with town. If they do not vote against the Mafia, they might expose themselves (which is not good since they are at minority here. If you think that winning as Mafia will be easy, then you are wrong.

You vote against Mafia, you are an enemy of the Mafia. It might be easier voting out the Police/Militia for the Tycoons/Outlaws in order to win, than voting out the Mafia and surviving.

How about randomly making one of the Police/Militia a Mayor with three votes that can't die at night? Though it imbalances one of Police/Militia compared to the other.

There is no need for Mayor. I will make sure that roles in the game will be balanced enough to give each side a fair chance to win.

If they do not vote against the Mafia, they might expose themselves (which is not good since they are at minority here. If you think that winning as Mafia will be easy, then you are wrong.

They might expose themselves, but I'm not sure if anti-town faction are the minority.

Wait... I see your point. But I hope it really works in real life.

My deal with Luna was that if I don't win Mini-FM poll, my S-FM will be approved. So expect to see new sign-up thread soon!

I was unable to start anything until the end of Mini-FM poll.
